Academic excellence, quality education, and shorter duration of courses are some of the major benefits of studying in the UK. As per QS World Ranking 2019, the UK has four out of the top 10 universities around the world. The education standards are assessed by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), an independent body in the UK, of all universities and colleges in the country. Free medical treatment can also be accessed through the National Health Service (NHS) while you study.

The UK is home to a very unique culture, having people from different parts of the country. More than 200,000 international students choose to study only in England each year. The rich and interesting history of the UK attracts students and makes them learn a lot. Art galleries, concerts, and open-air markets are some of the popular places to go while you are in this country.

Bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees are available for higher studies in the UK. Undergraduate studies deliver a complete understanding of the subject that students are interested in. Humanities, social science, design, business, art, technology, and science are some of the courses you can opt for. Involving in-depth studies, postgraduate courses are more specific.

Most of the master’s degrees have a duration of one year, empowering students to get to work earlier. There are many available courses for pursuing masters in the UK. Pathway programs are also offered by universities and private institutions to help you develop your language skills. The standard academic year starts around September – October in the UK. Some of the popular programs include Physiotherapy, Law, Actuarial Science, Sports Management, Medicine and Surgery, Computer Science, and Engineering.

A Tier 4 (General) Student Visa is available to students who are at least 16 years old. For international students, a two-year post-study work visa (Graduate route) can be reinstated. The Tier 4 General Visa costs £348 (Approx. Rs 33,349), which is payable via online mode, demand draft, or cash at the visa application centre and selected branches of Standard Chartered Bank.

A student visa application form, letter of acceptance on the course, proof of funds, and several other documents are required to get a Tier 4 (General) Student Visa. A Tier 2 visa is required if you wish to work after completing your studies.

You can apply to universities for post-graduation directly from the website of a specific university. Most universities accept applications throughout the year, but some do have deadlines to follow. Accepted language tests in the UK include IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, C1 Advanced, and PTE Academic.
